Project Description
Union Station Transportation Center is a transit hub across the street from the Union Train Station in downtown Chicago and is part of the Chicago Department of Transportation “Loop Link” project. The facility is connected to the Union Station via a pedestrian underpass. It is ADA compliant and equipped with the latest way finding, public announcement/information and security systems.
KMI provided mechanical HVAC, electrical and plumbing engineering design services for the project.
Special lighting was designed for the canopy. Close coordination with ComEd was required for relocation of electrical vault and power to the site, as well as with the CTA for integration of SCADA system for the facility. All conduit and piping were incorporated into the exposed structural system.
